Four seismic exploration crews worked on Wood Frog Farm from 1988 to 2005. The 1988 cut line was a full bulldozer blade wide and is still visible today in many places. The 1999 operation placed explosive charges and listening devices in a much denser pattern in order to obtain 3D images of underground pools of oil. The exploration company agreed to use hand-cut lines of sight that were just wide enough, about 50 cm, to allow a surveyor with a transit to see all the way from south to north boundaries. A year later, the straight line through the slow growing black spruce was still visible, but other lines of sight were obscured by downed trees and growing limbs. In 2013, only the 1988 cutline still could be identified.
